ASTM A53 Grade B is a widely used carbon steel pipe for low and medium pressure service, including both ERW welded and seamless types. It features good toughness, wear resistance and stable pressure resistance, with high cost performance for general industrial and civil piping systems.It has lower corrosion resistance than alloy steel but better toughness and wear resistance. Seamless A53 Grade B pipes fit precision and narrow-space installation; ERW pipes have higher structural strength and are suitable for secondary welding applications.
1. Size Range
ASTM A53 Grade B ERW pipes cover a wide size range. The conventional diameter is 1/8 inch to 26 inches, with a maximum custom size of 100 inches for special projects.

3. Production & Processing Standards
All A53 Grade B pipes are produced under strict standard specifications to ensure stable quality:
Steel Making: Adopts electric furnace or basic oxygen process. Different steel grades are cast separately, and transition materials are fully removed to avoid mixing.
Weld Heat Treatment: ERW welds must be heated to at least 540℃ (1000℉) after welding to eliminate untempered martensite and ensure weld toughness.
Cold Expansion: The cold expansion rate shall not exceed 1.5% of pipe diameter to guarantee dimensional stability.
